NHB Open House
In celebration of our national holidays, the National Heritage Board (NHB) offers all visitors free admission to all exhibitions at the NHB museums and institutions on the following public holidays. Seize the rare chance to view our national collection and uncover our nation’s history.
With each museum presenting a part of our culture and heritage and with special programmes to complement the Open House Days, there is no better time to visit.

Istana Open House
The Istana grounds is open to the public in celebration of Chinese New Year; Deepavali; Hari Raya Puasa; Labour Day; and National Day. The Istana Open House is scheduled to be held on the following dates in 2013:
- Chinese New Year (2nd Day) - 11 February 2013 (Monday)
- Labour Day (Actual Day) - 1 May 2013 (Wednesday)
- National Day & Hari Raya Puasa - 18 August 2013 (Sunday)
- Deepavali - 2 November 2013 (Saturday)
There will be a variety of performances on the grounds during the Open House. For an entrance fee of $2, visitors could tour selected function rooms in the Istana building and view a special display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister. There are also guided tours of the Istana building, conducted by the Preservation of Monuments Board (PMB). For more details, visit the PMB website.
Istana souvenirs are also sold at the Open House. All proceeds from the sale of the souvenirs and the entrance fees collected are donated to charity.
Note to Visitors:
- To facilitate security checks, please do not bring sharp objects or bulky items to the Istana
- The sale of tickets to tour the Istana Main Building will close at 5.30pm, subject to crowd condition
